WHAT'S ON IN ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA: EARLY 2015

So this is kind of one of my resolutions: And just to make sure I follow through, I've put together a sort of plan.  Here's what I PLAN on checking out in Antigua for the first half of 2015, and blogging on (fingers crossed) - in between other things:

The AUA Tinman Rohr Triathlon  on March 28. The largest triathlon event in Antigua, the AUA Tinman Rohr Triathlon features the half-iron, sprint and mini distances, along with races for teams, children and a 5k walk/run, bringing together a wide array of persons from international and regional athletes to fitness enthusiasts www.antiguatinmantriathlon.com . Definitely the new half-marathon  event Run in Paradise scheduled for May 24. www.runinparadise.com

Committing to make it out to Devil’s Bridge for the Antigua and Barbuda International Kite Fly, on Easter Monday, April 6 - I really want to see those huge kites in the sky, and reliving my childhood days by flying a kite myself! Also the test cricket at Sir Vivian Richards, when the West Indies take on England from April 13 – 17.

The Antigua Sailing Week from April 25 – May 1.  Attracting over 100 yachts, Antigua Sailing Week consists of five days of competitive racing off the rugged south coast of Antigua plus an optional day of racing around the island. I'm all about the parties though. Antigua Sailing Week, is known for its nightly parties.  Thousands of party-goers come out to stunning English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour, for the open-air bars, laid-back rum parties and music festivals. www.sailingweek.com

I loveth some seafood, so the Antigua and Barbuda Sport Fishing Tournament and Seafood Festival from May 23 – 24 2015 won't miss me. The popular seafood festival in the afternoon draws crowds.  It’s all about trying the grilled lobster, tasty seafood chowder, crab, carpaccio, sushi, conch water and as many seafood dishes as you can manage. Held in the historic Nelson’s Dockyard, the atmosphere makes this event a perfect day out for family and friends. www.antiguabarbudasportsfishing.com

The Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival, Antigua’s Carnival from July 26 – August 5th provides a colourful insight into the culture of the country. I'm all for culture and the development of culture, and I'm also looking forward to seeing what the artistic persons in our society come with for 2015.  www.antiguacarnival.com

Other  Events I may check out:
February 14: Music is Life Reggae Festival
February 15: Horse-racing at the Cassada Gardens Race Track (This will be a first for me - should be fun!)
April 15 – 20: Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, www.antiguaclassics.com
May 1 – 3: Nautical Music Festival, www.nauticalmusicfest.com
