Fried Plantains, and BBC recordings
oops, kinda started eating, then realised I should take a photo! |
BBC sent me an email!! Exclamation mark, Exclamation mark!!! I was totally surprised when an email appeared in my inbox from BBC Radio Scotland saying they'ld read my blog, and wondered if I would be interested in reading a poem from Antigua and Barbuda for them.
Nope this was not just an out of the blue request, and if you read on further, you'll see that the photo of the plantain isn't a random photo either!
Apparently as a lead-up to the Olympics, BBC Radio Scotland has launched this incredible poetry project called ‘The Written World’. The project's aim is to feature an iconic poem from every country competing in the 2012 Games (yes 204 in all.), BUT the aim is not only to feature the poem, but have it read, by someone who is a national of that country...not necessarily an easy feat!
How thrilled was I to be selected!!!! I was in Antigua when I got the email, so this is the photo of me saying yippeee :)
So where does the fried plantain come in... Well, take a listen and find out. Plantain. By: Anonymous
